ARNOLD RIM TRAIL
A task force is in place that is working on the Arnold Rim Trail (ART)  This proposed 30 mile trail will eventually circumnavigate Arnold.  A map is on display in the Lodge for interested members. This effort involves citizen volunteers, the US Forest Service and County agencies.  This proposed trail will travel behind LMP and will be for non motorized use.  If you would like to help or are interested you can find more information at arnoldrimtrail.org.
LOT INSPECTIONS
Improved and unimproved lot Inspections are underway.  This VIP (Volunteers In Prevention) effort is at the direction of Cal Fire.  Lots are inspected for compliance with fire safety code to make sure that in the event of a fire homes may be saved due to the removal of vegetation, overgrowth and excess fuel.  According to Cal Fire, Lynn Glocker has spent many hours to develop one of the best Homeowner Association inspection units in the Arnold area.  Lynn, along with 14 VIP inspectors will prepare notices that will be sent to owners whose lots need cleanup.  A list of lot cleaners can be obtained in the on site office.  Subsequent notices for non compliance may be sent by Cal Fire with fines if properties do not comply.  If you have any questions on your property, or if you receive a notice, contact Cal Fire at 795-1542.  A special thank you to Lynn and all the volunteers who are helping make our wonderful community fire safe.

THANK YOU!
The Board of Directors would like to thank Everett and Marilyn Vigars for their many years of service and all their efforts at Lake Mont Pines.  Everett has been our Care Taker for 10 years and works daily to keep the Lodge and facilities in tip top shape.  Everett has been busy organizing the new garage, removing old debris and preparing our facility for the 2008 summer season.  Marilyn is a long time volunteer and Board of Director.  Next time you look at the Lodge sign say a special thank you to Marilyn for cleaning it this Spring.  Marilyn will also be doing the annual flower planting at the lodge for everyone’s enjoyment.

SPRING CLEAN UP DAY – SATURDAY MAY 24TH
Volunteers are a very important part to the success of an Association.  If you would like to help, please join us on Saturday, May 24th for our annual CLEAN UP DAY.  Please bring your rakes and pitch forks to help remove pine needles.  We will also be picking up litter around the lake, trimming some trees and getting our beautiful beach, lake and Lodge facilities ready for another successful summer season.  Clean Up day starts at 8:30 am with coffee and treats followed by a few hours of work and capped off with our complimentary barbeque lunch for all volunteers.  Please join us to give back, work with your neighbors and meet our summer staff for 2008.  Another special thank you to member Justin Dollar for using his equipment to spread sand on the beach.  This was done in the past by members using shovels but thank to Justin, the beach will be level and sandy, ready for summer naps, picnics and sand castles!

SUMMER ID TAGS & PARKING PERMITS
Summer’s almost here!!!!!!
You may now obtain your 2008 summer ID tags and parking permits in the Lake Mont Office. The office hours are posted on the website and in the window of the Lodge. Tags will be issued to owner’s, who’s assessment accounts are current. Tags will be issued only to owners, or as directed by the owners. Also, owners must return prior years tags in order to receive new tags. All
un-returned tags are subject to a $10.00 charge each.
Home Owner’s that rent their cabins will be responsible for obtaining current tags and having them available to their renters.  This can be done a couple of ways:
 1. Having them on a keychain in the cabin ready for tenant use.
2. The rental manager keeps the tags in their office and hands them out when the renters pick up their rental agreements and cabin keys.
Thank you and we’re looking forward to a wonderful summer program for Lake Mont Pines Home Owner’s and their guests to enjoy!

CALL FOR CANDIDATES
Our Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday August 30th at the Lodge.  A special notice will be sent to all members prior to the meeting.  Please plan on attending this meeting or return your Proxy/Ballot so a quorum can be attained. Your Board, acting as the Nominating Committee, is currently contacting members in an effort to find volunteers to serve on the Board of Directors.  The By laws call for a Board of 9 members.  Currently we are operating with 6 Directors whose 3 year term’s expire at the 2009 meeting.  There are currently 3 vacant positions that we are trying to fill.   Interested members may contact the office or a Director for information in order to be placed on the ballot as a candidate for election at this year’s meeting.  Directors attend a monthly meeting of about 3 hours and get involved in the decision making and successful operation of the corporation.

Here is the list of some upcoming events planned for the summer of 2008.  These events will need adult volunteers to help supervise.  Please let the office know if you would like to help.  Our summer calendar will also be on the website so members can keep in touch with current activities.
