The County Sheriff's Department is encouraging property owners to visit
their properties. With downed trees and electrical wires, it is an
open invitation to burglars. It tells them that the home is vacant or
unoccupied. These are the red flags that our Neighborhood Watch
program helps to communicate.
COMMUNITY
SERVICES BULLETIN @Calaveras County
“TIP LINE” is installed at the Huberty Building and is monitored
by Detectives. It allows concerned citizens to volunteer information
regarding
suspected criminal activity while remaining entirely anonymous.
It also provides a way for Patrol to
encourage members of the public to come forward and provide information
without
fear of consequences.
Flyers
explaining the program have been
mailed to Neighborhood Watch Block Captains, and “TIP LINE”
bulletin board signs are being sent to Post Offices and Substations.

It is up to all of us to watch out for each other
and keep our neighborhood safe and crime-free.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each neighbor in our community can:
| Make
sure that your porch/street light is replaced and left on at night –
dark houses, especially a string of them – invite crime. |
| Please make sure your Address is clearly displayed
so that in the event of an emergency, emergency responders can locate
your house easily. |
Let
your block captain know when you will be on vacation/away from home so
that they can keep an eye on your house.
|
| Leave contact information with your block captain
in case of an emergency (fire, burglary, etc) while you are away. |
| Inform
Sheriff and HOA of any suspicious activity (see contact info above
& below). |
| Help identify any existing block problems or
concerns and bring them to the attention of your block captain. |
